The central government had launched the PM Van Dhan Yojana and the new trifed.tribal.gov.in. In this Pradhan Mantri Mera Van Mera Dhan Mera Udyam Yojana, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs will set up 50,000 self-help groups across the country. The main focus is to exploit the forest wealth (non-timber products) up to Rs. 2 lakh crore and to use it for the welfare of tribal people through Self Help Groups (SHGs).
In the first phase, the government had started this scheme in 115 aspirational districts and now it is being implemented in all tribal areas. This scheme is ensuring that the benefits of value addition and fair prices are given to the tribal people. The government will implement it through a 3-stage value addition process which will result in increase in the income of the tribals. PM Van Dhan Yojana (PMVDY) is a movement spread across 27 states.
PM Van Dhan Yojana, Jan Dhan Yojana and Gobar Dhan Yojana are the major schemes of the Modi government. This scheme was launched by PM Narendra Modi on the occasion of Dr Ambedkar Jayanti in Chhattisgarh on 14 April 2018.

PM Van Dhan Yojana (PMVDY) aims at harnessing the traditional knowledge and skills of tribals and linking branding, packaging and marketing skills to optimize their income through a market based enterprise model by setting up Van Dhan Kendras (VDVKs). Is. The ‘Van Dhan Programme’ under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs will set up 50,000 VDVKs in tribal areas across the country. This will ensure livelihood generation and empowerment of tribal people. PM Van Dhan Yojana has huge potential to empower tribals. The government will focus on convergence with Panchayati Raj. Features of PM Van Dhan Vikas Yojana
The salient features of PM Van Dhan Vikas Yojana are as follows:-
- Initiative to target livelihood generation for tribal collectors and convert them into entrepreneurs.
- The idea is to set up tribal community-owned Van Dhan Vikas Kendras (VDVKs) mainly in forest tribal districts.
- A center will have 15 tribal SHGs, each consisting of 20 tribal NTFP collectors or artisans, i.e. around 300 beneficiaries per Van Dhan Kendra.

Minor Forest Produce Development Minor forest produce provides both subsistence and cash income for the people living in or near forests. Of the 3,61,500 targeted beneficiaries, about 57,000 were onboard.

retail marketing In order to further the objective of socio-economic development of the underdeveloped tribal population of the country, TRIFED, since its inception has been engaged in establishing and functioning through its retail outlets located in strategic locations in different parts of the country. Of the 1,27,000 targeted beneficiaries, around 1,04,400 were on board the ship.
Pradhan Mantri Van Dhan Yojana State Wise Implementation Status
To implement the Van Dhan Yojana at the state level, several Van Dhan Vikas Kendras (VDVKs) have been created, each consisting of 15 Self Help Groups (SHGs), each consisting of 20 tribal forest produce gatherers. Thus, 300 tribal forest collectors are grouped together per VDVK to conduct sustainable micro-business operations. TRIFED plays a vital role in skill up-gradation, training and providing necessary tools and toolkits for processing, ongoing consultancy support etc. to ensure smooth execution of routine but critical activities in each VDVK.
PM Van Dhan Yojana aims to generate livelihood for the tribals. This is done by using non-timber forest produce and utilizing the real wealth of the forest (Van Dhan). The forest wealth has been estimated at about Rs. 2 lakh crore per year. This mission will promote and sustain the collective strength of tribals through SHGs to achieve scale.
Procurement through Self Help Groups under Pradhan Mantri Van Dhan Yojana
The government has proposed to do procurement at the grassroots level through SHGs in collaboration with other implementing agencies. other government. The departments will work together to utilize the services of existing SHGs like Jeevika. Appropriate training will also be provided to all SHGs on sustainable harvesting/collection, primary processing and value addition.
These SHGs will work in clusters and thus meet the stock availability in tradable quantities. In addition, Govt. It will also provide them primary processing facilities in all these newly established Van Dhan Vikas Kendras.
