Fruits – Farmer Registration and Integrated Beneficiary Information System

The state of Karnataka implements many schemes for the benefit of the farmers. Farmers engage in various agricultural and agro-related activities such as farming crops, horticultural crops, sericulture, dairy, poultry, fisheries, etc. Each of this activity requires special knowledge and experience. Therefore, the state has set up a special and specialized department to assist the farmers in carrying out agricultural activities effectively and efficiently.

While the setting up of specific departments brings a focused approach to the development of each of these activities, farmers need to approach different departments to get any kind of assistance and benefits. It is common practice that all departments ask for documents from farmers for providing benefits under any scheme. Farmers submit the same set of documents every year to different departments. Sometimes they have to submit a set of documents for each scheme in the same department.

A well organized and vetted farmer database will save farmers from running again and again to get benefits. Apart from this it will help the departments in overcoming the above issues. DPAR e-Governance Department in collaboration with NIC has developed a software application named Farmer Registration and Integrated Beneficiary Information System – FAL.

Objectives of Fruit Karnataka Portal

The primary objective of the Fruits Karnataka portal is to organize and check the database of farmers across the state. From now on, farmers do not need to submit separate documents in different departments to take benefits of the schemes. Accordingly, the data of farmers will now be placed on the Fruits Portal which will save a lot of time and money and also bring transparency in the system. With proper implementation of the fruit initiative, farmers will be able to devote their time to farming activities instead of going from one department to another to submit their documents.
